Organizing For Later In Life: Tips for Orange County Home Organization

Pi Beta Phi South Coast Alumnae ClubNipomo Organizing had the honor of speaking at a lunch meeting of the Pi Beta Phi South Coast Alumnae Club! The topic they ask me to speak on was “What can I do with all my stuff at ages 50-90?”

They had all agreed that their children wouldn’t want a share of the accumulated clutter, memorabilia, and items collected throughout life. While everyone has those little things they pick up, often they go a long time without use, or often even thought. Trinkets and mementos are common, small novelties and old gifts tend to pile up. It can be hard to get rid of some things, but it can be good to go through those items that you no longer need nor use and get rid of some. It certainly helps with cutting down on cleaning!

It was a great research project for us and has produced our new little free brochure on “Tips of Decluttering for Retirement”.

This is a topic that a lot of people are faced with and sometimes they don’t want to burden their children with all the stuff they have. While it may mean a lot to you, maybe your children and relatives don’t share the memories or significance of what you have built up over your lifetime.
