Shred-A-Thon 2013 – Help Reduce Your Risk for Identity Theft!

The Auto Club is hosting a free Shread-a-Thon at the Angel Stadium parking lot on June 29, 2013 from 9 am to 2 pm to help you reduce your risk of identity theft!  All Southern California residents (AAA members and non-members) are invited to bring up to five file boxes or paper grocery bags filled with personal papers for free on-site shredding.  All shredded materials will be recycled.

You may be bring items such as:

  • Tax records
  • Old Bills/Invoices
  • Employment applications
  • Bank statements
  • Business documents
  • Canceled checks
  • Medical records
  • Credit reports

These items are not allowed for shredding and must be removed ahead of time:

  • Plastic bags
  • Binders and folders
  • Computer disks
  • Laminated paper
  • Other non-paper materials

Last year’s Shred-A-Thon event produced 69,200 pounds (34.6 tons) of shredded paper and saved:

  • 104 cubic yards of landfill
  • 588 trees
  • 69 barrels of oil
  • 242,000 gallons of water (water and oil saved is equal to what would be needed for transporting trees and manufacturing new paper

1-800-GOT-JUNK will also be on-site to collect electronic waste such as old computers and televisions.  The service is free at this event.)
